Did you miss the Colorado Springs Parade of Homes?  Area home builders are reporting a good turn-out.  New technology trends, homes that accommodate current family lifestyle, easy maintenance, and going "green," were the big topics. But now summer is winding down, and it's time to start looking toward fall.

Labor Day weekend is coming quickly, and AAA Colorado projects that there will be a 10.7 percent increase in the number of people traveling through our mountain region that weekend.  AAA Colorado and Experience Colorado Springs, the local convention and visitors bureau, both say we have had an increase in tourism this year.  Revenues from the city's lodging and auto rental tax are up 6.2 percent over this time last year.

Labor Day weekend is also the much anticipated Colorado Balloon Classic.  Activities are planned September 4-6 at Memorial Park.  Set your alarm clock, as concessions open and some activities are as early as 6 am.  The mass ascensions are scheduled for 7 am, weather permitting.  The preparation for the Balloon Glo® begin at 7:30 pm, with the inflation scheduled for 8 pm. For more information, go to www.balloonclassic.com.

The Air Force Falcons' opening football game is September 4th at 12 pm.  The Falcons will be hosting Louisiana's Northwestern State.  Along with a great football game, there are always exciting displays, such as F-15 and B-2 flyovers!

Don't forget that the Colorado State Fair starts this coming weekend, August 27th, and goes to September 6th.  The fairgrounds are in Pueblo, at 1001 Beulah Avenue.  Admission on week days is $5.00, and on the weekends, $8.00.  Gates are open from 10 am to midnight.  For full information, check out www.coloradostatefair.com.
